The Best Self Care Gifts for Moms

Finding time for self care as a mom can feel impossible. But moms need to be supported and cared for to be able to be the best versions of themselves. That’s why I’m sharing my take on the best self care gifts for moms.

Next time someone you know has a baby and you want to get a gift, think of mom as well! Moms go through a lot when a baby is born, and a gift that encourages self care may be just what she needs.

Best Self Care Gifts for Moms

Here’s my list of the best self care gifts for moms.

Massage Gun

Motherhood, especially in the postpartum period, can wreck havoc on your back. From breastfeeding to carrying your baby everywhere, and everything in between, back pain is a common symptom in new moms. And many moms are still recovering from pregnancy-related back issues even after their baby is born.

That’s why a massage gun can be such a fantastic gift. This device can help relieve tension whenever mom can get a short escape from the kids. It’s convenient, easy to use, and effective.

Bath Bombs

As a new mom, even an escape to go take a shower can feel like an act of self care. A warm bath – even better.

Bath bombs are a perfect gift because they give moms an excuse to escape for a nice, long soak in the tub. Having an opportunity to check out for a bit can be a saving grace for moms who are overwhelmed by all of the demands of life.

Journal

Often, the best self care I can give myself is time to reflect. For me, this means sitting down with a cup of coffee (or glass of wine) and writing.

A cute journal is a great gift for a mom who likes to write. Whether you get her one with blank pages to explore her own thoughts, or one with prompts to encourage reflection, a journal is sure to provide a chance for her to care for herself.

Espresso Machine

Babies need a lot of things – moms, on the other hand, can usually make do with just a cup of coffee.

There is no doubt that any mom would appreciate an espresso machine to be able to get a delicious caffeine fix in the comfort of her own home. Moms are tired, so having the ability to make an espresso easily can be a life-saver. My favorite espresso machine makes incredible, foamy espresso in just a few minutes.

Weighted Eye Mask

I won’t lie – not long ago, I would have thought, “Why would anyone want a weighted eye mask?” And then I tried one.

Weighted eye masks allow for the ultimate relaxation experience. The darkness, combined with the slight pressure around the eyes, is so soothing. Sometimes, I simply put my weighted eye mask on before I go to bed, and do a little self care as I fall asleep.

This is a great gift idea if you want to get your mom friend something she doesn’t even know she needs!

Books

Busy moms don’t have a lot of time to themselves, but one of the best ways to spend the time they do have is by picking up a good book. Reading allows for an escape from the real world, if only for a few moments.

Some books that I recommend as gifts for moms are Untamed by Glennon Doyle, The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty.

A Gift Is Sure To Be Appreciated

No matter what you choose to get the new mom in your life, a gift is sure to be appreciated. The postpartum period can be an especially difficult time, and often the focus is on the new baby. Your gift will show that you care about mom as well, which is incredibly meaningful on its own.

What gifts do you like to give to new moms? Or better yet, what gifts were you given in the early phases of motherhood that helped you through your journey?
