How to Travel With Little Kids: Part 1
My husband and I love to travel. DJ spent some time stationed in Europe while in the Navy, and when I’d go visit on my breaks from college, we’d hop from country to country looking for adventure. We’d each pack a small bag and head out on cheap flights to hostels in new destinations.
By the time we were in our early 20s, we’d been to over 10 countries together and had road-tripped across Spain. We knew what we were doing when it came to travel!
As you can probably guess, becoming parents changed that for us. Traveling was no longer an easy thing to do.
When our first son was born, we hardly traveled at all. We took him on an airplane to visit family at 11-months-old, and on a short road trip when he was a year and a half, but that was it. Traveling seemed too difficult to be worth it.
Then the pandemic happened. And the world stopped.
When our second son was born in February 2021, we were not planning to do much travel. Covid-19 precautions were still strongly in place, and traveling with two little kids just seemed silly to attempt.
But then in April, I took my boys to visit my sister a few hours away. In May, my husband and I took them on a weekend trip to the zoo. Then in June, we went on a big family adventure to Disneyland. And in July, we flew to Washington to spend time with extended family.
